The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling against the Trump administration’s effort to end the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program now seems to be the latest barrier to Biden officials ending Trump policies.

The court’s majority Tuesday referenced the DACA opinion in finding the Biden administration could not stay a lower court injunction requiring officials to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required asylum seekers to stay in Mexico ahead of immigration court proceedings. That 2020 opinion was led by Chief Justice John Roberts and largely joined by the liberal justices.
