A group of seven veteran Capitol police officers are suing former President Donald Trump, far-right groups and Capitol riot defendants, alleging a conspiracy to block Congress from certifying the 2020 election that led to the violent attack on Jan. 6.

The suit, filed by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law on Thursday, alleges the plaintiffs were “violently assaulted, spat on, tear-gassed, bear-sprayed, subjected to racial slurs and epithets, and put in fear for their lives,” during the storming of the Capitol.
