With some bold legal maneuvering, Texas lawmakers ground nearly all abortion to a halt this month for the first time since 1973.  The Texas law bans all abortion after approximately six weeks and is enforceable by any vigilante with an anti-abortion agenda. The Supreme Court failed to act, tacitly green-lighting other states to act like legislative cowboys by adopting similar laws. Now the Justice Department has stepped up to reign in this Texas-sized assault on our reproductive freedoms.

President Joe Biden and Congress now must take even greater action not only to restore abortion rights to the women of Texas but to expand protection of these fundamental rights for all Americans.
