Steptoe & Johnson is making concerted moves to beef up its tax litigation and controversy offering with the addition of yet another well-known lawyer in the space. In Washington, D.C., Steve Dixon has joined as partner—the third addition in the last few months, with Larry Hill and Richard Nessler both joining from Winston & Strawn in June and residing in New York.

Steptoe chair Phil West, who also co-chairs the firm’s tax group, sees litigation and controversy in the tax space a ripe for further growth in business. West said in a statement that the firm is seeing tax enforcement on the rise, and that both Steptoe’s corporate and high-net-worth clients will benefit from the expanded team and focus. Steptoe’s team also includes Matt Frank, Greg Kidder, Amanda Varma and Aaron Nocjar.
