Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and his lawyers at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer reached a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department on Thursday, bringing an end to a headline-grabbing case that alleged the Trump administration sacked him in retribution for his perceived political leanings.

The settlement agreement will allow McCabe to collect pension payments dating back to his firing on the eve of his retirement in 2018. McCabe will also be recorded as having retired in “good standing” from the FBI and expunge any mention of his firing.
