A veteran U.S. Capitol Police officer was indicted on obstruction charges for allegedly telling a rioter who stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6 to take down Facebook posts implicating the accused rioter in the unrest.

Michael Riley, who was in the K-9 unit of the Capitol police force, is facing two counts of obstruction of justice, according to the indictment. David Benowitz of Price Benowitz appeared on behalf of Riley during his initial appearance Friday.
