After 23 years in public service, during which he rose to become acting director for the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission, Daniel Kaufman has left to start a private practice at Baker & Hostetler.

Kaufman joined the firm’s digital assets and data management practice group in its Washington, D.C., office as a partner Monday. He hopes to help clients with consumer protection matters—especially advertising, marketing, privacy and data security issues—and will support companies in developing and implementing compliance programs.
