Three nonprofits have reached “an agreement in principle” with the federal government to settle a lawsuit alleging that the judiciary improperly used PACER fees to pay for certain expenses.

The announcement was included in a status report filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by lawyers for the National Veterans Legal Services Program, the National Consumer Law Center, the Alliance for Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
