In 2021 law firms saw demand skyrocket in a number of key practice areas. And that demand is set to continue, experts say, driven in large part by significant shifts in policy as President Joe Biden and a Democrat-led Congress make their mark.

For partners looking to move, the greatest demand has been in corporate, intellectual property, litigation, banking/finance, and real estate, said Dan Binstock of search firm Garrison & Sisson in Washington, D.C. Law firms, meanwhile, seemed most interested in health care, antitrust, privacy/cybersecurity, national security, government contracts, and financial technology partners when it came to filling their offices in the capital.
