Former President Donald Trump is facing two new lawsuits from police officers who responded to the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, just days ahead of the first anniversary of the attacks.

The two lawsuits, both filed Tuesday in D.C. federal court, are the latest in a series of civil complaints filed over the Capitol riots, the vast majority of which name Trump. The new complaints also echo the prior cases in alleging violations of the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, a post-Civil War law, over the violence that took place last January.
