Judge Gregg Costa announced his intent to resign from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in August, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts’ website.

Nominated by former President Barack Obama, Costa, 49, joined the New Orleans-based court in 2014 after being confirmed by the Senate in a 97-0 vote. He previously served as a U.S. district judge in the Southern District of Texas.
