Milwaukee-headquartered national law firm Michael Best & Friedrich has made a serious move to beef up its Washington, D.C., presence and introduce key new service offerings to clients. The Am Law 200 firm has launched a regulatory defense, compliance and white-collar practice group.

To lead the new practice, Michael Best has brought in as partners Uttam Dhillon, a former senior Department of Justice lawyer and Drug Enforcement Agency official, and James Carroll, former director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
