The next four days will be the most important milestone for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's legal career. Confirmation hearings by the Senate Judiciary Committee to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court—effectively taking over Justice Stephen Breyer's seat—started Monday with opening statements and will be followed by two days of Jackson being grilled by senators. The final day of the hearings will include outside witness testimony including by the American Bar Association that has already given Jackson an unanimous "well-qualified" rating. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson.
