The U.S. Senate confirmed Judge Alison Nathan to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Wednesday.

The Senate voted 49-47 to confirm Nathan, making her the second openly LGBTQ woman judge to sit on any federal appeals court. Before her appointment, Nathan served in the Southern District of New York, where she recently oversaw the sex trafficking trial of Ghislaine Maxwell.
