Gerrymandering and voting rights matters might not be big revenue drivers for Big Law, but certain lawyers and firms have made it their business to get involved in the fight long term. The issues, they say, are vitally important to the health of the country—and democracy—and are therefore worth the time and resources.
Nationwide, several firms have carved out a reputation as defenders of voting rights and opponents of gerrymandering, including Ballard Spahr, Jenner & Block, Perkins Coie and Reed Smith. But when it comes to firms born and raised inside the Beltway, two Big Law firms stand out as making significant commitments to voting rights.
