High-profile investigations in Washington are typically a bonanza for major law firms, offering career-defining opportunities for lawyers to raise their profiles in history-making proceedings. But for some lawyers, the prospect of representing clients who spread lies about the presidential election and helped foment a mob attack on the U.S. Capitol is a bridge too far.

Big Law firms have turned down requests from multiple people in former President Donald Trump’s orbit for representation related to Jan. 6 and the investigation by the House select committee, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
