Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday night said the leak of the draft abortion opinion was “tremendously bad” for the Supreme Court and “beyond anyone’s imagination that someone would do that.”

Thomas, speaking at a conference in Dallas, said, “The institution I’m part of, if someone said one line of one opinion would be leaked by someone, you would say, ‘That’s not possible.’ That was verboten. Look where we are. Now that trust or belief is gone forever. When you lose that trust, especially in the the institution I’m in, you begin to look over your shoulder. It’s a kind of infidelity.”
