Former Trump administration trade adviser Peter Navarro, representing himself in a criminal contempt of Congress case, continued his tense back-and-forth with the judge presiding over his case with a sharply worded email to his chambers on Monday.

In the email, Navarro “strongly” objected to U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta’s order earlier in the day to grant the government’s motion for a protective order governing discovery in the case. Navarro had previously told the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia that he would file a response to the motion by the end of the day last Friday, but he had not submitted anything by the time Mehta issued an order Monday afternoon.
