Former top Trump adviser Steve Bannon must face trial on criminal contempt of Congress charges stemming from defiance of a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee, a judge ruled Wednesday.

In denying Bannon’s motion to dismiss the indictment, U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols of the District of Columbia turned aside arguments the select committee was improperly constituted and that U.S. Justice Department legal opinions preclude the prosecution.
