A pair of court opinions released Tuesday will allow two different voting technology companies to argue defamation claims against two different conservative television networks.

In Delaware, a state judge gave a green light to Dominion Voting Systems' claims against Fox Broadcasting, while in Washington, D.C., similar claims made by Smartmatic USA Corp. against One America News Network were also given the go-ahead. Both suits are related to statements broadcast on the dueling conservative networks in the wake of the 2020 election.

The Delaware case, filed against Fox Corp. and Fox Broadcasting Co., focuses on Fox Corp. Chair Rupert Murdoch and CEO and executive chair Lachlan Murdoch's role in the alleged defamatory statements, claiming Fox has backpedaled on the Murdochs' involvement since the original lawsuit was filed.
