The House Jan. 6 select committee on Wednesday subpoenaed former White House counsel Pat Cipollone for testimony about efforts by former President Donald Trump to subvert the 2020 election.

The committee’s chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Mississippi, said in a letter accompanying the subpoena that Cipollone is “uniquely positioned” to testify about key events at the center of the committee’s investigation, including plans to send fake Trump electors to Congress, install Jeffrey Clark as acting attorney general and thwart the formal certification of the election on Jan. 6, 2021. The letter summons Cipollone to appear for a deposition on July 6.
