The disciplinary office for Washington, D.C., lawyers on Friday brought ethics violation charges against former U.S. Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark for his involvement in a proposed letter to lawmakers in Georgia making false claims about the 2020 election results.

Clark, a former partner at Kirkland & Ellis who led the environment and natural resources division at DOJ under the Trump administration, was accused of violating ethics rules on dishonesty and attempting to “engage in conduct that would seriously interfere with the administration of justice,” according to a complaint from the D.C. Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility.
