Former President Donald Trump cannot prevent Congress from obtaining his tax returns as part of an investigation into IRS presidential audits, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled Tuesday.

The D.C. Circuit panel upheld a ruling from U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden of the District of Columbia finding that Congress has a legitimate legislative purpose in obtaining the tax records on Trump and his private businesses, and separation of powers concerns don’t outweigh lawmakers’ interest in the records.
