When U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced a man last month who assaulted a police officer during the attack on the U.S. Capitol, she warned that the “dark shadow of tyranny” that was on display that day has not gone away.

The defendant, Albuquerque Cosper Head, was accused of dragging D.C. police officer Michael Fanone by the neck into a crowd of rioters, where he was tased and assaulted by the mob. Fanone, who spoke at Head’s sentencing, has been outspoken about former President Donald Trump’s role in inspiring the violence.
