Incidents involving gun violence have shot up in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision last June finding that individuals have a Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms not just in their homes but also in public. Since New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen was decided on June 23, 2022, mass shootings have become an almost daily occurrence.

But mass shootings are just a subset of a larger problem. Gun fatalities and injuries resulting from individuals shooting other individuals happen every day across the nation and often without much public attention.
