President Joe Biden’s nearly half-trillion dollar plan to forgive 40 million Americans’ student loans appeared in danger after over three hours of oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday. 

Concerns from judges ranged from the standing of the parties challenging the effort to the major questions doctrine and why some parties could benefit while others would not. But by the end of debate over two cases debate, it appears unlikely a majority would side with Biden’s plan.
