Several large law firms with a presence in Washington, D.C., have been scooping up laterals to expand their intellectual property capabilities, seeing sustained demand in patent practices despite global economic uncertainty.
Law firms and legal industry observers say D.C. is already a hotbed for IP work, due to the proximity of the International Trade Commission and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. But lately, the down corporate market has provided even more demand for IP litigation.
