As artificial intelligence technology develops, Congress should consider changing patent eligibility rules to ensure that American AI innovation is protected amid global competition, U.S. Sen. Chris Coons said Wednesday.

China, for example, has boosted its patent system to safeguard that nation’s innovative technology, said Coons, D-Delaware and chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property.
