The Federal Trade Commission's efforts to compel Meta to modify its platform to protect the privacy of young users of its Facebook and Instagram websites drew strong support this week from technology, consumer and child-protection groups.

"Meta has violated the law and its consent decrees with the Commission repeatedly and flagrantly for over a decade, putting the privacy of all users at risk," the Center for Digital Democracy and about 30 other advocacy groups stated in a letter to the FTC on Tuesday
