It started as an attempt to draw attention to an understaffed agency and over permitted process. Rep Sean Casten, D-Illinois, took to the floor of the House to offer a song, "Hot FERC Summer," with the hopes of getting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, FERC, additional commissioners and address permitting issues in the wake of the passage of infrastructure and green energy bills signed into law by President Joe Biden.
"Climate change is urgent. Capital markets are mobilizing in response to the Inflation Reduction Act. There is no time to have us lurking," sang Casten last December, borrowing the beat from pop superstar Rihanna's 2016 hit "Work."
