Retired appellate Judge Thomas Griffith has been appointed mediator in U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Judge Pauline Newman’s complaint challenging her colleagues’ investigation into her alleged incompetence and misconduct.

Judge Christopher Cooper, who is overseeing Newman’s lawsuit, issued an order Tuesday naming Griffith, who left the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2020 to join Hunton Andrews Kurth as special counsel.
