A dozen New York bar associations called the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to strike race-conscious admissions in higher education a threat "to the pipeline of diverse candidates for the legal profession and, ultimately, for the judiciary."

The 12 bar groups issued a joint statement on Wednesday highlighting the value of diversity in reaction to the conservative-led SCOTUS ruling on June 29 in Students for Fair Admissions v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, 143 S. Ct. 2141.

Signing onto the statement were: the Asian American Bar Association of New York; Caribbean Attorneys Network; Dominican Bar Association; Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York; Hudson Valley Hispanic Bar Association; LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York; Metropolitan Black Bar Association; New York County Lawyers Association; Puerto Rican Bar Association; South Asian Bar Association of New York; Women Trial Lawyers Caucus; Women's Bar Association of the State of New York.
