U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee members grilled a federal appeals court nominee Wednesday about a sentencing recommendation he made as a prosecutor as well as his views on diversity in the judiciary.

Seth Aframe, President Joe Biden’s pick for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, was pressed by Sen. Marsha Blackburn and other Republican committee members on a child pornography and sexual assault case, where he recommended what they called an inadequate sentence.
