The U.S. Supreme Court released a new code of conduct signed by all nine justices Monday afternoon following months of scrutiny from media outlets and lawmakers over alleged ethical lapses by court members.
In a brief statement, the court said that the absence of a code “has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the Justices of this Court, unlike all other jurists in this country, regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules.”
