A plant-based ingredient maker has agreed to spend $8 million to settle claims that it violated the Clean Air Act by emitting excessive amounts of particulate matter and volatile organic compounds at its corn wet milling facility in Indianapolis, the Environmental Protection Agency said last week. 

Under the settlement agreement, Ingredion Inc. will pay $1,139,600 and spend nearly $7 million in implementing measures to reduce and offset unpermitted emissions of particulate matter and comply with PM limits.
