Lawyers for former President Donald Trump filed their highly awaited appeal Wednesday asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn his disqualification from the Colorado presidential ballot over his role in the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

The embattled Republican front-runner is seeking the justices’ review of a December ruling by Colorado’s top court holding him ineligible for the presidency under Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment, which bars insurrectionists from holding office.
