Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. has named a North Carolina federal judge to be the new director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, which offers administrative support to all federal courts.

Senior U.S. District Judge Robert Conrad Jr. will take over the position in March. He will succeed Senior U.S. District Judge Roslynn Mauskopf, who has served as director since February 2021 and retires at the end of this month.
