At a mostly smooth-sailing Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit nominee Embry Kidd talked about his efforts to increase clerkship diversity, the importance of mentorship and how he helps pro se litigants navigate the judicial system.

Kidd, who has served as a federal magistrate judge in the Middle District of Florida since 2019, said one way he expanded the clerkship applicant pool was by making the position a one-year commitment rather than two years.
