As the U.S. Supreme Court sprints to the finish of its October 2023 term, litigants are vying for the chance to be heard by the justices next session.

The docket for the upcoming October 2024 term features just 10 cases so far, given the court’s slow pace of granting certiorari, or review, this year. Under the court’s recent caseload, that leaves around 50 grants to go before the justices fill their calendar completely, a process that usually takes until about mid-January.
