The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear Facebook’s appeal to defeat a lawsuit by investors filed after a 2018 scandal regarding the use of user data wiped out more than $200 billion in the social media giant’s market capitalization.

Facebook and founder Mark Zuckerberg are urging the justices to reverse a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit decision that revived the allegation that the company failed to reveal on a federal disclosure form the risk such a scandal would pose.
