The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission asked a federal district court in New York on Friday to quash a subpoena Coinbase issued demanding documents related to crypto markets and the personal communications of the agency’s chair.

Jorge Tenreiro, deputy chief of crypto assets in the SEC’s division of enforcement, represents the plaintiff in a case that the agency, headed by Chair Gary Gensler, brought against the defendants, Coinbase Inc. and Coinbase Global Inc.
