U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Georgia, became the first Senate Judiciary Committee Democrat to vote against one of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees Thursday as the committee failed to advance the nomination of U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn for a Manhattan federal trial court judgeship.

Of Biden’s 250-plus judicial nominees to date, Netburn is the only one to receive an unfavorable bipartisan committee vote, according to Carl Tobias, a University of Richmond Law School professor who tracks federal judicial nominations.
