One day after a federal court in Pennsylvania upheld the Federal Trade Commission’s ban on employment noncompete clauses, FTC Chair Lina Khan said her agency’s rule has broad-based support from both workers and industry.

“There’s actually a lot of support within the tech community itself for the limits on noncompetes and a recognition that sometimes this kind of diffusion of information is actually pretty critical to the huge innovation gains that we’ve seen,” Khan told a Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference audience Wednesday in Sacramento, California.
