As Election Day nears, the Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns, as well as national party committees, have already paid millions to several large law firms and boutiques for legal fees and disbursements since the start of this year.

Covington & Burling is one of the top-paid legal counsel for both the Biden-Harris campaign and Democratic National Committee, according to Federal Election Commission filings from Jan. 1 to May 31 of this year. Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s campaign has turned to Dhillon Law Group, a 25-lawyer boutique with several offices, including in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
