A divided U.S. Supreme Court late Friday denied the Biden administration’s emergency request to permit it to enforce expanded protections for LGTBQ+  students under new Title IX rules while they are being challenged in lower courts.

In a per curiam opinion, the high court stated that the U.S. Department of Eduction did not prove a sufficient basis to disturb lower courts’ interim conclusions that three regulatory provisions at issue are likely unlawful and intertwined.
