The federal judiciary and its staff must take cybersecurity precautions during the 2024 election season, U.S. appellate judge Michael Scudder said Tuesday after a biannual meeting of the Judicial Conference of the United States.

Intelligence community reporting has indicated that foreign adversaries see the election as an opportunity to spread misinformation and create doubt about the stability of the U.S. government, and the judiciary should therefore be vigilant of potential cyber threats, added Scudder, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
