The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Republican commissioners told a House panel Tuesday that the Democratic-led agency's regulatory approach toward cryptocurrency lacks clarity, fomenting confusion in the bitcoin industry.
"We've taken a legally imprecise view to mask the regulatory lack of clarity," GOP Commissioner Hester Peirce told the House Financial Services Committee. "We've fallen down on our duty as a regulator, not to be precise."
