The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a "reverse discrimination" Title VII employment case asking whether a straight woman should have had to meet a higher burden to show she was passed over for an Ohio government job due to her sexual orientation.

The justices granted certiorari, or review, of a federal appeals court decision rejecting the discrimination claim from a former program administrator for the Ohio Department of Youth Services. The high court will review petitioner Marlean Ames' argument that she was unfairly asked to make evidentiary showings beyond what's required for minority-group plaintiffs.
