Susman Godfrey helped the city of Baltimore win a $266 million opioid damages award as the parties prepare for a December bench trial seeking additional costs for abating the city’s drug addiction crisis.

“No city in the country has been hit harder by the opioid epidemic than Baltimore,” Susman Godfrey partner Bill Carmody, the lead attorney representing Baltimore as outside counsel, told the National Law Journal on Thursday. “The jury’s verdict was an important step toward helping Baltimore recover so that it can continue to be one of the best cities in America and a place where all of its citizens can be healthy and succeed.”
