President-elect Donald Trump nominated Paul Atkins on Wednesday as the next U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chair.
Atkins is the chief executive of Patomak Global Partners, a financial services consultancy in Washington, D.C., and New York. While several Am Law 100 firm partners were under consideration for the role, Trump ultimately chose Atkins, who began his law career at Davis Polk & Wardwell, writing that he is "a proven leader for common sense regulations."
